This new foundation; Shiseido Synchro Skin Foundation makes me feel a little bit excited. That might sound slightly strange, especially seeing as I haven’t been blogging much about beauty of late, but let me tell you why.

I ripped this out of the packaging and slapped it on like I usually do, with little expectation, as let’s be honest – once you’re over 30, foundations that actually make you look good and still like yourself (especially in daylight) are few and far between… but this one gave me an ‘oh’ moment.

I looked in the mirror for an absolute age (not unusual) admiring how it made my skin look and feel. The texture is similar to YSL Fusion Ink (think super light, almost watery) so I didn’t expect much in terms of coverage, but it’s actually a very decent medium. My dull, pigmented skin looked glowy without shine, the usual multitude of sins/pores/spots were beautifully covered but yet it looked like I was wearing very little foundation.

Shiseido Synchro Skin Foundation is one of these oil-free, hybrid serum/foundation formulas that aims to treat dull, blemished skin all in one go. I don’t really buy into this ‘hybrid’ malarkey all the makeup brands are pushing at the moment, but in fairness to this one – it does feel very, very nice on the skin – no cake face in sight.

Downsides? It’s not cheap at AED165 (approx 40 euro), and it’s a leaky foundation so bits of it end up smearing on the inside of the lid, and the lid is rubbish – an awkwardly shaped piece of plastic that doesn’t seem to fit the bottle properly.

Aside from that, I’m very impressed and feeling all the emotions as I find it very difficult to come across a foundation that doesn’t start looking terrible after a couple of hours (aging is a bitch).

If you’re in the market for a new one, and like me, you think your skin looks dull/flat/dreary and just generally crap, give it a go. It’s honest-to-god-good. I gave their new concealer a lash too, it’s called Perfecting Stick Concealer – and while it does the job nicely; thin texture, medium coverage, not too greasy, etc. – it’s just not enough to tear me away from my beloved Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer.

That’s all for now my friends, thank you very much for reading.
