I blogged about Make Up For Ever’s Smoky Couleur collection back in August and finally got my hands on some of the pieces this week. Four new shades of their bestselling mascara, and my personal fave; Smoky Lash were launched as well as a bunch of kohl pencil’s in new jewel toned shades.

My previous experiences with different colored mascara have been very disappointing at best. I found the blue and plum shades of Bad Gal Lash mascara by Benefit particularly crap, with little or no colour payoff as well as an incredibly dry formula that was unpleasant to apply/remove. Happily, I can report that Make Up For Ever have succeeded where others have failed and their offerings are beautifully pigmented, lovely and smooth to apply and best of all, noticeable! Why would you wear different shades of mascara and not want it to stand out? Left to right below; No.6 Plum, No.4 Green, No.3 Brown and No. 5 Blue.

The kohl pencils are also amazing. The pigmentation is insane; smooth, blendable and gorgeous to apply, I can’t get over how soft they are. Intense pearly green is particularly gorgeous. Below left to right; 8K Pearly Deep Blue, 4K Intense Pearly Green, 10K Pearly Black Purple and 9K Matte Mocha Brown. I took a picture of some swatches also but they look a bit washed out when in fact the colours and very vibrant.

Smoky Lash retails here for 10.2 bd, which works out at about 20 euro. I’ve purchased three of the original black smoky lash mascara’s in the past and would do so again for these as the quality is excellent. The kohl pencil’s are 7BD, about 14 euro and again, although a little expensive for a pencil, I’d still hand it over.

The one thing I find about Make Up For Ever is that it’s not readily available and a lot of effort and shlepping around usually goes in to tracking down different pieces that take your fancy.  Has anyone else tried anything from this collection, or would you be tempted into trying a new shade of mascara?
