I change my hair every couple of months because I get bored. I thought my hair changes were quite sporadic and different but in the last couple of years a distinct pattern has emerged; colour/highlight hair and then return to natural colour. Colour/highlight hair and then return to natural colour. Colour/highlight hair and then… you get the picture!
Recently, as you can see in the left image, I had a bit of an ombre look going on, it lasted about 3 months before becoming scraggly and yellow from heat and chlorine. Additionally, I’ve been growing my hair so it was long and flat looking. Usually I would complain about the condition but thankfully, I came across a miraculous conditioner which has saved my mane, you can read about it here.
Yesterday, I took myself off to my favourite hair salon in Bahrain. The colourist swallowed down a scream when he saw my hair and emphatically agreed I needed to get rid of the ombre. When I told him I wanted to return to my normal colour, he suggested that we lift the tone a little and make it warmer as my natural colour is a very cool, almost ashy brown. Then, the stylist suggested an ‘overcut’, basically a whole bunch of layers to give my hair some much needed volume. Naturally, I said yes to everything and now I’m really glad I did. My hair has a natural wave in it so the layers have worked a treat and the colour makes me feel less trailer trash and more slinky goddess, hurrah!
Although I love the new look, we’ll see how long I can keep this going before changing it all again…!
