Bangs

I’ve been thinking about getting bangs/a fringe for ages. And as I usually do something semi-drastic with my hair every 2 years or so it was just about time for something to happen. I took myself off to my favourite Dubai hairstylist once more, the supremely talented Anthony Walsh at Pastels Salon in The Ritz Carlton on JBR and asked him to work his magic.

He told me I should absolutely go for bangs as I can apparently carry them off (woohoo!) however, as I have a small forehead; short, cute looking bangs would not do as they would only serve to shorten my face further. He recommended longer eyebrow-covering bangs with slightly graduated sides to sit nicely alongside the rest of my hair. We also decided to go for quite a full on fringe – as my motto with these things is always go hard or go home. The whole process took about 30 minutes, it would have taken less had we not been nattering on like two gossipy neighbours!

For fringe maintenance, Anthony recommends a trim every 2-3 weeks to keep it looking neat and tidy. When it comes to styling, a simple round brush will do and the hair should be blown from the top downwards without curving the hair in toward the forehead too much. He showed me a really clever way of keeping full bangs looking full too; take a pea-sized amount of product (preferably gum or gel) and smooth it down over the fringe using the flat side of a soft brush. This will link all the hair together creating a much fuller fringe! Genius.

So, what do you think? Are you pondering fringe benefits of your own?
