I’ve become a little bit nail obsessed recently as I’ve been reading lots of fabulous nail blogs. Although I love to do my nails regularly and always lean towards quite bright funky colours, I realised with a jolt of horror that plain colours aren’t always cool (my bad) and that a distinct lack of glittery action is really just inexcusable.
And so it came to pass that it was time to increase the amount of glitter polishes in my collection. I began by obsessing for longer than is normal over some of Deborah Lippmann’s glittery offerings. Unfortunately only one salon in the UAE stocks them and the selection is so dire that I turned to House of Fraser online – only to discover they won’t ship DL polishes internationally! Thankfully, a friend from Dubai is in the UK right now and before he could say ‘I’ll bring them back for you’ they were on his doorstep (thanks Jack!)
The glittery splurge continued last night and this morning as I visited Spinney’s supermarket (hello large Sally Hansen stand) and Nailstation respectively. I picked up 06 Razzle Dazzler and 08 Glitz Gal by Sally Hansen and Vandalism Art 93 and Bulles et Mousse from Nailstation. The Sally Hansen polishes are delicate, almost girlish polishes with small circles of glitter mixed in with lovely rose gold and grey/black swirls of shimmer.
The Nailstation polishes are a bit more blatant with Vandalism Art 93 being almost vulgar with its bright chunks of black, green, purple, gold and silver glitter. It’s a polish that can only really be used as an accent over other shades as it looks a bit weird on its own due to it having no colour, just glitter. The other one, Bulles et Mousse needs two decent coats to elicit the shade you see in the bottle, which isn’t bad going. It’s a gorgeous coppery red that makes me feel quite festive, a good thing really since Christmas is nearly bloody upon us again!
And that concludes my glitter splurge. I may have also ventured into Topshop and bought some fabulous stackable rings that will look so good with my sparkly nails but more on that another time! 🙂
