Effectively, my natural hair colour is brown, but it’s quite ashy so I often colour it with a warmer shade, just to give it some life. I had a voucher to use at a well known salon here in Bahrain so I thought I’d try them out.
When I sat down for the consultation, I was unimpressed to be immediately hit with a sales pitch. Did I want this hair dye which was only ok, or did I want this hair dye that was loads better (but more expensive, which they didn’t offer up). Then, they pulled the hair off me while brushing it, pushed three products on me whilst I was making my way to the sink and once I’d sat down, hit me with it again – did I want an extra special treatment for my hair? I politely declined and was immediately told in a huffy voice that my hair ‘was in very bad condition and I needed it’. Can you believe that? Again, they didn’t offer up that the treatment was of course, extra, at 12bd (25 euro)!
They then did a pretty crap blow dry and sent me on my way. When I said the colour was a little darker then I expected, they told me it was now the same colour as my eyebrows and that’s the way it should be. Mmmm, ok. I was charged 46bd (about 92 euro) for a full colour, including a wash and blow dry. A little excessive I think, but I’m not sure anymore how much it would cost at home? Is it about the same?
